Mmmmmm….puppy for dinner!!! No I am kidding, although you can grab a meal of DOG meat soup in Korea…but I haven’t done that YET!
Getting to the dog cafe..
I went to a meet-up with other people from meetup.com. The meet-up was at a dog cafe. This dog cafe was at the Jangsan stop on Line 2 subway in Busan. Quite a few people made it to the meet-up on Sunday, although I didn’t interact with many of them. I was deathly hungover from the previous night. My bus to Haeundae took 2 fucking hours because of construction and traffic!!! It at least gave me a chance to chill out and catch up on a few podcasts.
After my bus FINALLY arrived, I had to walk to the subway station for a short subway ride (2 stops) to get to Jangsan. Now, I have a bus/subway pass on my cell phone (which will be discussed in a later post), so it makes the subway quicker since I don’t have to buy a ticket.
The dog cafe was located above an ordinary pet store. From the outside AND the inside of the pet store, you wouldn’t know there was a ‘dog cafe’ upstairs… When you walk into the cafe, you instantly see numerous dogs of all breeds running around. The place wasn’t really big, but large enough to accommodate 20 or so people and at least that many dogs. The dogs were strays or rescues (and also a few were pets dropped off like a kennel) and all different breeds and sizes. There were some really small (typical for Korea) dogs, but also a couple big ass dogs! Amongst all of these dogs, there was a single, fluffy, white cat. She was perched high up on a big cat tower/house.
How the cafe works…
You go into the cafe and pay 6,000 Won ($5.50) and you get a coffee or a smoothie (I think they are endless because I had 2 with no questions asked), some delicious deserts and a nice place to hang out with dogs running around. If this place was closer…shit if it was even in the same city, I would go ALL the damn time! Playing with random dogs helps me to cope with missing Brodie

Isn't she just precious!!!
, my dog…lots of alcohol helps me cope as well…haha. You can stay for as long as you want it seemed. It would be cool just to go every Sunday or something to see the dogs. Most were well trained and very cute. All were nice and friendly, although a few scuffles between dogs did happen, but that can be expected when that many dogs are in a confined area.

Yes, Korea likes to dye their dogs bright colors...
That’s it
Well, that is the dog cafe for you…I was also told there is a cat cafe somewhere in Busan as well, but I don’t care about cats. I am sure I will make another visit to the dog cafe in the next couple of months but until then, I will have to rely on alcohol for me to cope with missing my precious little angle, Brodie!
The dog cafe is another random gem found in the ROK!
